Beginners, please!

Born at Mill Hill in North London, Carole Bremson aged nine was auditioned by her dog, who barked disapproval at her ‘Titania’; she rushed to Elizabeth Barrett Browning – the start of a fruitful tension between Bremson’s drama and poetry selves.

She went on to adapt Mary Poppins, made her way through ‘Hermia’, ‘Ophelia’, and ‘Jean Brodie’, before attending the New College of Speech and Drama, London. She danced at St Andrews, performed at midnight during the Edinburgh Festival, and was cast as ‘Helena’ on a tour of the USA.

Since graduating, Bremson has worked as an actor, director, and teacher, devising and directing over 20 compilations including works by T.S. Eliot and Coward, to Farquhar, Sheridan, Byron, and Barnes. She also adapted Shakespeare for companies in London, and led Shakespeare workshops in Paris, Dublin, and Geneva.

Bremson lives in Hove, East Sussex, where she is currently completing her first novel, Lie Circumstantial, plus a novella, Summer’s Breath.
