Praise and Poems
Jocelyn Jones’ poetry has warmth and humanity, balanced with a down-to-earth spirituality that is a real balm for the challenging times we live in. – Colin Hambrook
There is a value to listening to this woman of water, whose insights swish around your body, sometimes chilling, sometimes cooling, sometimes drawing a mild perspiration as you also remember different aspects of yourself. I would give some of these words to my daughter because it can speak to youthfulness and I can also gift some of these lines to a wizened elder, for she too can find therein comfort . . . although there is disappointment, from time to time and from person to person, we remember, in Jocelyn’s words: ‘We are not yet done’. – Mama D
Quiet
So quiet
I can hear
even a leaf fall
one perfect yellow beech leaf
twirling like a soft dance
to the woodland floor
a squirrel
thuds from on high
close to my head
all quiet again
he is collecting nuts
unperturbed
I contemplate
the fallen branch
home to mosses and fungus
and tiny things I cannot see
lying here quietly
no more concerning
than a log
I feel at home
